—all 9 volumes! a project begun in 1998

I researched and wrote the volumes of America, a History in Verse, beginning January 1, 1998, when I was sitting outdoors by our creek here in Woodstock reading Blake's America, a Prophecy, and the idea came to me to write a verse history of the nation. My publisher during those years was John Martin of Black Sparrow Press who, to my lasting gratitude, published the first two volumes. Black Sparrow was taken on by David R. Godine, Publisher, which published Volume 3 in 2004. An enhanced CD publication of the first five volumes of America, comprising the 20th century, was published in 2008 by Blake Route Press.

Now, after almost 14 years, America, a History in Verse is ready.
